Episode 12: Monster
Saturday Jul 31, 2021
Saturday Jul 31, 2021
Steve Harmon a regular degular film student turned felony murderer? This movie is fairly well described by Brian Lowry from CNN “The film arrives with a timely theme and a cast whose stock has soared in the intervening time, making this one for the time capsule if nothing else... It's just that the movie adds up to less than the sum of its parts.” As you’ll hear there was potential but it misses in crucial areas that could have made it a hit and while it doesn’t take away from the movement it doesn’t further the conversation much by using a well off protagonist from an excellent family.

Episode 11: Things Heard and Seen
Saturday Jul 24, 2021
Saturday Jul 24, 2021
After a brief hiatus we’re back with Thing’s Heard and Seen staring Amanda Seyfried and James Norton. Jesus this movie was a train wreck, truly where is the justice for the women of that house. Everything is fucked and the evil that resides seems to prevail at the end. No with no happy ending and a strange pseudo spiritual plot this movie doesn’t really make the cut.

Episode 9: Bad Trip
Tuesday Jun 22, 2021
Tuesday Jun 22, 2021
Well, this is Bad Trip. An episode that I don't even really wanna post but Nik is making me =D. Movie was bad and I think the episode is bad, not necessarily because of the fact that we're under the influence but because the movie really isn't that great and it wouldn't have made for a good talking piece even sober. Courtesy of Johnny Oleksinski of the New York Post "Funny in spots, but it flatlines early and gets way too gross." Next up Friday, Things heard and Seen!

Episode 8: Thunder Force
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Netflix is back at it again with a bad movie that doesn't fit anyones demographic. Is it a kid's movie? Is it a young adult superhero parody? Is it an 80's throwback? It's none of those, it's Thunder Force and it's a flop. With weird out of date references, cursing and censorship, and questionably savage violence it'll be sure to either make you feel old, make you feel confused, or scar your poor young mind. As Rotten Tomatoes says "It's got a few chuckles, but Thunder Force is largely a superhero comedy that's neither exciting nor funny -- and an egregious waste of its co-stars' talents." That's all folks, Bad Trip up next!

Episode 7: Night in Paradise
Monday Jun 07, 2021
Monday Jun 07, 2021
Welcome back to our foreign language deviation with another Korean film! Mob violence and emotional drama make for quite the duo when done right. This film happens to excel in the former with a fascinating insight into Korean gang life based mostly in Seoul. It then completely fails to evoke the emotional response we think they were trying for with the latter. It was very interesting to hear the ranking structure and see a culture basically of gentleman criminals, countered with two dysfunctional terminally ill women who either die to soon for us to care or fall flat in their ability to endear us into caring about their deaths. Acting was fairly decent throughout though with shoutouts to Mun-shik Lee as Captain Park and Seung-Won Cha as Director Ma. Catch ya next time with our first (and maybe last cause it was disastrous, maybe because of the movie it covers) Under the Influence episode for Bad Trip!

Episode 6: Seaspiracy
Thursday May 20, 2021
Thursday May 20, 2021
This episode we head into the murky depths of Seaspiracy, a documentary bringing light to just how quickly we’re killing ourselves and the planet due to rampant corruption, malpractice and slavery in the worldwide fishing and fish farming industries. It’s a rough one to watch as people who’ve eaten fish their wholes lives and has basically lead to a pledge to reduce our consumption 99%. Definitely a must watch.

Episode 5: Moxie
Wednesday May 12, 2021
Wednesday May 12, 2021
Moxie! An interesting movie that explores the trials young women of all types go through during their journey through High School, fighting against misogyny and the patriarchy, while dealing with new friends, environments, and the classic asshole jock.

Episode 4: Malcolm and Marie
Friday Apr 16, 2021
Friday Apr 16, 2021
Hope we’re entertaining enough to keep some of ya’ll around. This episode 4 featuring Malcolm and Marie starring Zendaya and John David Washington. “A filmmaker on the brink of Hollywood glory and his girlfriend, whose story made his career, find themselves pushed towards a reckoning as a single tumultuous night decides the fate of their relationship.” Not exactly a favorite of ours, this tumultuous, emotional portrayal of an incredibly toxic relationship managed to score a 3.6 from the both of us. Enjoy! Next up Moxie!

Very entertaining story and a highly recommended watch. Beware the spoilers ahead however, if you think you'll watch it do that first then join us for the discussion. Episode 2: Space Sweepers
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Sunday Apr 11, 2021
Episode 2 is here with an impromptu intro by Nympholette! Recorded the 23rd of February, Space Sweepers is whole different vibe. A foray into what is apparently the renowned Korean space opera genre you're definitely going to need your reading glasses to keep up with those subtitles. Enjoy! Catch ya Tuesday with I Care a Lot :D
